The primary goals of the Golden Pond Grotto are to further the safe and conscientious exploration of Kentucky's vast underground wilderness of caves. Since its formation as a Grotto of the National Speleological Society in 1991, the GPG has served as a forum to exchange information and ideas regarding caves and karst features in Western Kentucky. Our exploration of caves is often accompanied by a systematic survey. The GPG is currently involved in several mapping projects throughout Western and Central Kentucky. The membership of the GPG is also actively engaged in groundwater monitoring and watershed watch projects in several areas of Western Kentucky.
